The challenge
Lisa Sliwowska has been a wellness practitioner for over twenty years, with her spa on Salt Spring Island and a winter studio in Victoria. Her website hadn’t kept pace — an aging WordPress build that looked dated and, worse, had been quietly compromised: spam links were being injected into her contact page without her knowledge.
Cleaning a hacked WordPress install is a gamble that it stays clean. Instead, we replaced the platform entirely — a fresh custom build the old site’s problems couldn’t follow.
What I built
Nine pages covering everything the business actually does: treatments, weddings and bridal packages, retreats, one-on-one coaching, gift certificates, an online shop, a journal, and contact. Each treatment links straight into Square Appointments booking — one calendar across every service, so double-bookings can’t happen.
The shop runs on the same editing system as the rest of the site: each product is an entry Lisa manages herself — photo, description, price, and a Square checkout link — so she can add a new balm without asking anyone. The journal works the same way, and a Mailchimp signup grows her list from the site.
The result
figsandhoney.com now runs on a fast, secure custom build with none of the old platform’s baggage — no plugins to patch, no compromised code, and spam-protected forms. Lisa writes her own journal posts, stocks her own shop, and takes bookings through one calendar, on a site that finally looks like a twenty-year practice deserves.
